A heavy duty Erickson Air crane helicopter used for timber extraction crashed during a logging operation in Ulu Baran in northern Sarawak, killing its American pilot and the co-pilot was seriously injured. The American pilot, Captain William Charles Scott, 51 years old from Woodlands, United States was killed when the helicopter spun out of control and crashed in mountainous terrain between Long Pelutan and Long Banga. The co-pilot, David Bergin who is 29 years old is also an American seriously injured. This incident happened at about 6pm on Friday and Scott’s body was recovered and sent to the Sarawak General Hospital mortuary in Kuching yesterday evening.
